WE LOVE PEOPLE WHO LOVE a good costume.

-Hey folks! Introduce yourself... who are you and what do you make/create/do?
We are Shawna Dempsey and Lorri Millan of Finger in the Dyke Productions. We are artists who make performance, videos and more.
-What is the inspiration behind your work?
Our work is driven by things that bug us: patriarchy, homophobia—the list is long. Our work is funny, feminist and irreverent. We love costumes! We have been collaborating for almost 40 years.
-What is a dream project/opportunity that you hope to get to do one day?
So many of our art dreams have come true. We are part of the team designing the 2SLGBTQI+ National Monument in Ottawa. In the future? We’d love to keep making art together for the next 25 years.
-Take this opportunity to tell us about another local artist/creator that you love... Who is putting out cool shit that keeps you inspired and excited?
We love the works of performance/dance/intermedia artist Freya Björg Olafson. And the women who bake everything at Gato!
Thank you so much, lorri and shawna.
Check out Lorri and Shawna's website to keep track of what they're working on, and to catch some of their art in action.
