• Healthy adults aged 19-64, it is recommended to have eye exams every 2 years. For those outside of those parameters, annually.

  • An optical prescription expires after two years to coincide with the timeline recommended for a biannual eye exam. Even if you have 20/20 vision, it is important to see an eye doctor regularly to monitor the general health of your eyes. Certain vision issues can persist without symptoms or pain, such as glaucoma or macular degeneration. An eye exam is more than just getting an optical prescription to purchase glasses, it's about prioritizing the health of your eyes.

  • No. If you are a first-time contact lens wearer, a fitting session with an eye doctor or licensed contact lens optician is required.

  • Yes, if you have a valid contact lens prescription from another optometrist! If not, we will schedule a refit session with our doctor before we dispense contact lenses to you.

  • Short answer: No. A glasses prescription is not the same as a contact lens prescription. Glasses sit slightly away from your eyes and contact lenses sit directly over your eye, so two different tests and measurements are required.

  • If the contact lens is in stock from the manufacturer you should have them in around 5 days. If after 10 days you have not received please contact us.

  • No. We need to see a prescription with a doctor’s signature to legally and safely make prescription lenses for your glasses. A hardcopy, digital copy, or photo of your prescription is acceptable as long as it has a date from within the previous two years.

  • Yes, we are set up to direct bill most insurance plans, as long as the plan allows optical services to direct bill.

  • It depends on the state of the frames. Each pair is assessed separately and depending on the overall condition and regular maintenance of the frame a charge will be applied. Starting at $35.00.

  • It takes about 7-10 business days to get most pairs of prescription glasses back. Some
exceptions that may take longer such as specialized lenses, high RX’s, mirrored coatings, custom tints, etc.

  • We always recommend cleaning your glasses with the classic combo of soap and water. We love Blue Dawn with lukewarm water, it really gets the grease/oils from our bodies off of the frames and lenses. Remember you wash everything that goes on your body regularly, so why not make your glasses part of the routine. The more you wash them the longer they last.

  • Most of the brands we carry come with a one or two year manufacturer warranty. This covers defects from manufacturing.

If you have a suspected warranty claim please bring in the glasses to be inspected by our team at G is for Glasses. If you have purchased the glasses online please email us at hello@gisforglasses.com along with photos of the issues you are experiencing, we will get back to you asap with solutions.

Warranties are void if the damage is caused by improper use or careless maintenance, regular wear and tear, incorrectly following the care instructions, having anyone other than G is for Glasses maintain the glasses, or if you have tried to fix them yourself before bringing them in to be looked at.
