-Hey ladies! Introduce yourselves... Who are you and what's your biz?

We’re Jenna Hutchinson and Ashley Kosowan—twin sisters and co-owners of Jenna Rae Cakes.

-What do you make/create/do?

Jenna creates edible works of art in cake-form, and Ashley brings the visual brand to life through design, photography, and styling. 

-What is the inspiration behind your work?

We’re total creatives at heart—creating is something we have to do. We feel incredibly lucky to get to work together every day and make things from scratch with our own two hands. Being a sweet part of people’s most special moments is what keeps us motivated, it’s an honour to be the go-to for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, and everyday celebrations. We also love being able to give back to our community, and we’re so inspired by the amazing team we’re surrounded by every day.

-What is one thing that is different about the work that you create, compared to others in your field?

Our work blends baking with branding and design in a way that’s uniquely ours. Everything we create—from cakes to cookbooks to baked goods and packaging—is deeply considered and tells a cohesive, beautiful story. Our tagline is to “make life sweet,” so that’s what we set out to do in every sense of the word!

-What is a dream project/opportunity that you hope to get to do one day?

Designing a line of kitchen and homeware has always been a dream for us—and being judges on a cake decorating show is definitely on the bucket list!

-Tell us about another local artist/creator that you love.

We’re constantly inspired by so many incredible local creators—Jordan and Rachel from So Over It , Natasha Lao of Studio Giorg, and Lauren Wiebe of Stonehouse Weddings are all doing such cool, thoughtful and creative work that inspires us daily.
