-Hey Burgess! Introduce yourself... what do you make/create/do?

I'm Burgess Mertens and I run Burgess Design. I’m a visual artist & designer working with stained glass to create accessible, modern art pieces. 

-What is the inspiration behind your work?

I’m inspired by bold colours and nature. In my stained glass work I combine the classic European art form of stained glass with modern design sensibilities.

-What is one thing that is different about the work that you create, compared to others in your field?

I create the designs from scratch for all of my pieces, and I specialize in small affordable art that is attainable to all types of folks. 

-What is a dream project/opportunity that you hope to get to do one day?

I hope to one day do a mixed media art show, centring around Metis art style within the stained glass medium. 

-Take this opportunity to tell us about another local artist/creator that you love... Who is putting out cool shit that keeps you inspired and excited?

I really love the work of Roberta Landreth ... she is a graphic designer & artist who has done some amazing album art, music festival artwork, etc.
